Deep Play - Chapter 10 - Swallow Your Pride
By Caliko

:::We can always get married.::: The words echoed through her head, tempting her with impossible dreams. All she had to do was say, "yes." All she had to do was relax her goals, and trust him not to make her life impossible.

:::Wufei NOT make my life impossible?::: she laughed humorously, knowing that that will never happen. He made her life difficult now, and they weren't even married. :::So what would be so very different, that I can't say 'yes'?:::

Sally leaned back against the shower, where she quickly retreated after her confrontation with Wufei.

:::My future would be tied to his.... but, wasn't it already?:::

She closed her eyes, then sighed. Shaking her head, she realized that she WAS being stubborn. After all, there were such things as long engagements. He asked her to marry him.. but he didn't say when.

Sally got to her feet, and walked across the cold marble tile to the door. Opening it, she looked at the bed, seeing the lean profile of her lover. He was laying on his back, one arm thrown up over her pillow, the other rested on his taut stomach. His hair was loose, forming an ebony halo around his aristocratic face.

She walked closer to the bed, drinking in his appearance. The sheet lay low on his hips, his fingers just barely covered by the jade cotton. His legs were outstretched, with his foot hanging out the side of the sheet. She watched, fascinated, as his toes twitched according to whatever dream he was having.

"Wufei?" Sally called softly, hesitant to wake him. "Are you sleeping?"

"What do you think?" His words came out low, as if he, too, were afraid to break the tentative peace.

She crawled into bed next to him, then leaned against his chest to look into his eyes.

"I'm sorry for being a bit unreasonable." She lay her chin down on his chest, and he brought his arms around her on reflex. His lips twitched a bit as what she said sank in.

"A bit?" He asked dryly, "Woman..."

"Don't push it, Wu. Look, I am willing to compromise, ok? I want a long engagement."

"Sally, I want to be married before the baby's born." His tone warned her that he was going to be difficult. Well, fine. She could be too.

"No. I'm only getting married once, Chang, and it won't be with my stomach taking up sixty percent of my gown!"

"Then we should get married now!"

"No! If I'm getting married, it will be a REAL wedding. Bridesmaids, ushers, the gown, everything! I want a cake, a reception, ROSES! I want a guest list, and a reception that lasts all night, long after we slip away for privacy! If I have to have a babysitter for my wedding night, then so be it, but that's the ONLY way you're getting me to say 'I do'."

"Maxwell had that kind of wedding, and it only took him a few days to get it together."

"Trowa and Quatre used the circus's decorations. I will NOT get married in the middle of a circus, Chang! It takes MONTHS to put a nice wedding together."

"Fine then!" He growled, hiding his smile. "You have eight months, Woman! The child will be two months old, and you SHOULD have a waist again!" He flipped over onto his side, hiding his smirk. He got exactly what he wanted.

Sally slid off of his body, bemused. Did he give in too easily?

Bethany Cecil eyed the two men in front of her, then sat down at her desk. Straightening the cuffs of her suit coat, she asked, "Do you understand what you have to do?"

The taller man nodded, saying, "Yes, Ms. Cecil. We watch the grounds and wait for the woman to leave, then we grab her and send a ransom note to the Preventer. Then, when he comes to rescue her, we kill them both."

"Contact me when you have her. I want to watch as Chang Wufei breaths his last breath."

She motioned to the door, and the two men left. A few minutes later, she pressed the intercom button, and waited for her secretary to answer.

"Ana, please contact Mr. Rasheed from our New York office. Ask him to report to me tomorrow morning."

"Yes, Ma'am.

Ms. Cecil leaned back in her seat, confident that her plan was finally bearing fruit.

"Wufei, I really need to go shopping." Sally mentioned the next morning, noticing that he favorite jeans no longer fit. She couldn't quite keep the joy from her voice, knowing that she was FINALLY getting out.

"Can't you order something over the computer?" He asked, actually trying to be helpful. Unfortunately, Sally didn't see things the same way.

"I'm going shopping, Wu. I need clothes, and I would like to start getting some things together for the baby. Now, either you come with me, or you assign a body guard, or you allow me to go by myself, BUT I will go shopping!"

She walked closer to him with each word, until she was actually pushing him back with her pointer. Unable to raise a hand to a 'weak pregnant onna', he could do nothing but take it.

"I (push) AM (push) GOING (push) SHOPPING!" She repeated, shouting, not really noticing that she had pushed him into the bathroom.. and into the tub of water he forgot (as always) to drain.

He stood up, dripping, eyes narrowed as he squeezed the water out of his shirttail. Standing in the tub, staring at her, he had to say it.

"Is this what they call hormone surges?"

(WACK!) Sally slapped him across the face and stormed into the bedroom. "Change your clothes, Chang! We're going out!"

"Wufei, you can't take her. Remember, you told Bethany Cecil that you were no longer with her." Noin reminded him.

"Fine, than YOU tell her that she's not going. I am tired of playing the villain. You have no idea how witchy she is lately!"

"No need. Ask Heero to take her." Zechs suggested, knowing that the other pilot was more than capable of playing body guard.

"I don't like it." Wu said, shaking his head. "But, as usual, I have no choice. Blast it, why me?"

Two hours later, Heero Yuy escorted both Sally and Relena to the mall, acting as if he were going to his death. He sent Wufei just one look, but it promised death if he had to do this again anytime soon.

Both women were oblivious, walking out the door and chattering away about nursery themes or wedding themes...or was it both? Heero shook his head, praying that they would find everything quickly.

"Hey, Carl.. look!" They were parked down the street, where they could watch the main driveway without being seen right away.

"What am I looking at, Frank?" The taller man asked, pulling up his binoculars.

"The woman, Agent Po. She just pulled out with Relena Darlian and her body guard. This could be our chance."

"Alright. Pull out natural, don't speed or get close. I don't want to mix them in with this. We'll have to wait until she's alone before we grab her.

The two thugs followed them to the mall, passing the entrance they went into to pull into one a little further down. Keeping their eyes on the trio, they entered into the store five minutes after them, following them just out of sight.

"You know, Carl, I heard about this guy. According to Stanley, we don't want to get mixed up with him."

"Idiot! That's why we're going to wait until she's alone!"

"But, what if she's never alone?"

"Frank, she's pregnant! Trust me, she'll have to use the toilet eventually."

"Alright, if you say so. Err.. do we grab her before or after she does what she has to do?"

Carl sighed and shook his shaggy head before glancing over to see if Frank was serious. Seeing that he was, he groaned, and looked down at his feet.

'We'll play it by ear, Frank, Ok?"

Sally, Heero, and Relena had just sat down at a table, and were about to eat, when Sally felt a familiar, uncomfortable pressure in her belly. Grimacing, she looked up.

"I'll be right back, you two. I have to use the bathroom."

Heero looked up, and noticing that the fast food restaurant was nearly empty, nodded and continued to unwrap his burger.

"If you're not back in ten minutes, I'm going in after you."

"Heero! Sally, he's not serious." Relena blushed, embarrassed.

"It's ok, Relena. He's only trying to keep me safe." Sally reassured her, getting up. "Don't worry, Heero. I'll be back in a few minutes."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Carl! She's coming this way!" Frank hissed, ducking back into the men's room.
"Ok... wait until she goes inside, then we'll grab her." The taller man said, trying to calm down his partner. "Did you pick the lock on the back door?"
"Yeah, we can get her out without taking her past the minister and the her body guard."
"Good. The door just closed. Let's go."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Sally heard the door shut after her, but, being in the cubicle, assumed that it was just another woman who had to use the facilities. She flushed the toilet, and stepped out, unprepared for chloroform gag that went in her mouth and the sack that went over her body. Minutes later, she was hoisted over someone's shoulder and carried out.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Heero.. Sally should have been back by now." Relena mentioned, putting her fork down.
Heero glanced at his watch, and nodded. "I'll be right back."
Getting up, he walked down the hallway towards the restrooms. Stopping at the ladies room, he knocked. "Sally?" He called.
Receiving no answer, he pushed open the door, and did a quick sweep of the empty room. Cursing, he spotted an empty bottle on the floor. Picking it up, he cursed louder and pocketed it before marching back to Relena.
"Come on, Princess... We have to go home and tell Wufei that his fiance' has been kidnapped."
