Wufei slammed the phone into its cradle. The woman's call made
him feel cheap, and dirty. He glanced over at Sally's face, and
was instantly annoyed. She almost blue from holding back laughter
and her eyes were watering from stopped tears. An unholy glimmer
of amusement shown through her expression. Defeated, he sighed.
"Go ahead, woman...before you hurt yourself." He
tiredly mumbled before collapsing into his chair.
"OH Gods!" A peal of silvery laughter cascaded throughout
the room, tickling the hair on the back of his neck. "She
wanted to be your sex slave?"
The memory of his expression was priceless, and she knew that
she would never again see that amount of true horror coming from
Wufei's face. His eyes alone testified that he hadn't placed the
classified ad.
"Wufei, they probably got the wrong number in the ad.
I'm sure, that once it's noticed, that the calls would stop."
Slightly reassured, he nodded sharply before picking up the file on thier latest assignment.
Opening it, he realized that her report was missing.
"Sally, did you finish that report yet?" He asked,
looking up.
She had been reading the messages that came in overnight. About
halfway through, Susan had started to write her comments on the
bottom. They went from shocked.. to racy. On the last one, the
38 year old mother asked if SHE could apply for the job.
Sally looked at Wufei, and knew that he hadn't checked his
messages yet. Calmly, she put the messages behind her back and
eased towards the door. With high hopes of making it, she stepped
outside into the outer office.
"HOLD IT!" Chang's voice echoed throughout the room,
causing their fellow agents to stare. "I believe that they
are mine."
"Wufei.. you REALLY don't want to see these."
"Don't be silly, woman. There might be something important."
:::::Oh Gods::::
Placing them into his hand, she once again made for the door.
Too late! Sally cursed, as she heard him fall out of his chair.
"Wufei?" She turned around, confirming her suspicions.
He had slipped off of his seat and onto the floor behind his
desk. Bewildered, the man rubbed the back of his head as he flipped
through the little pink slips of paper.
"It has to be Maxwell's work." She heard him mumbling.
"Four different newspapers, and they each named me specifically.
Only Maxwell is this evil!"
Midnight, Relena's room:
Delicately swaying into the sitting room from the hallway,
Relena Darlian Peace craft hummed to a song that played only in
her mind. Her blond hair was pulled back into a low ponytail,
and her usual tailored dresses were replaced by old jeans and
a polo shirt.
It had been a lovely vacation. For the first time in way too
long, she had just been Relena. Not the minister of peace, not
the rich little princess. No, she had been just a girl.
She smiled, remembering Jean Paul's lazy chocolate eyes. They
teased, they laughed, they were sorrowful in pretended hurt. But,
they weren't Heero's brilliant blue.
She enjoyed herself with the charming Frenchman, but that was
all. They went dancing, and to dinner, but she went to bed by
herself.
Damn Heero! He didn't seem to want her, yet she still couldn't
let go! When Jean Paul kissed her, she pretended it was the dangerous
assassin. Oh! One day...she'll get him out of her head!
She turned on her light, nearly screaming as the object of her
torment glared at her. He sat in the chair across the room, one
leg propped up against his body, the other falling. His eyes flashed
menacingly, for once not hiding his emotions.
On the table lay his laptop. Looking over it, she spotted a
game of Solitaire, and smirked as she realized that he lost.
"Where have you been?" He demanded.
:::::Oh-ho! What was this? Jealousy, maybe?::::
"Out." Well, two can play at this game.
"I know that. Where were you?" Heero demanded.
"Heero, it's none of your business, but if you must know...
I was on vacation."
"Damn it, Relena! I'm the head of your security, and I
wasn't informed! Do you know that I went crazy looking for you
until your HOUSEKEEPER told me that you were in France?"
"I'm sorry if you were worried, but as you can see, I'm
fine!"
Lazily, she motioned him to leave her room. Not even looking
to see if he obeyed, she started to unbutton her jeans so that
she could get ready for bed.
"Is this how you decided to strip for that little skin
flick?" His voice belted out at her, causing her to realize
that he ignored her. She shouldn't have been surprised, as he
never listened to her before.
"What are you babbling about, Heero Yuy? I never stripped
for any skin flick!" Relena protested, truly confused
"Oh? Than what's this?" He flicked open a small case
at his feet. In it lay a second laptop, a twin to the one on the
table.
He activated the computer, and her duplicate walked out onto
the screen.
"I managed to figure out how to make it play straight
through." He spoke conversationally, waiting patiently to
pounce on her guilt.
"Heero...that's not me."
Glaring, he calmly replied that he didn't think she would admit
to it.
"I'm serious! Look! Her hair is a lot lighter than mine!
and look! She has green eyes, not blue!"
For a minute, he looked as if he didn't believe her. Then, he
calmed down enough to actually look at the model on screen. Damn
it... she was right. He made a complete ass of himself for nothing!
"I'm sorry, Relena. I was an idiot." It took a lot,
but he admitted it.
"Yes, you are. Heero, I didn't pose for that movie, but
it wouldn't have been your business if I did. I'm not your sister,
your daughter or your wife, and you have no right to lecture me."
"I don't believe that."
"What?" she asked, surprised that he hadn't left
yet.
"If I don't have the right to lecture you, who does? Relena...
don't you ever get tired of this game?"
"I wasn't aware that it was one."
"Yeah, well...it doesn't matter." he lightly kissed
her lips before turning to leave. Stopping at the door, he smiled,
"I'm not playing anymore."
He left her staring after him, wondering at his strange mood.....
